- The Premier is equipped with Flash DSP as well as Flash ROM for
- the control code (see technical spec on Motorola ISG's web
- page). That justifies the higher price (over the Power) for me
- because I am looking for a good long-term upgrade path. V.34+
- doesn't particularly bother me: it's what comes next that I'm
- interested in.
-
- I understand that the early Power modems were also graced with
- these features, but that later models were built around a
- different architecture. For this reason, I suspect that an
- across-the-board (no pun intended) upgrade to V.34+ for the
- Power models will not be forthcoming. This would require a new
- FlashDSP release - which even the early Power modems don't
- support. The trade-in route that everyone's talking about sounds
- more feasible. This is just speculation on my part and isn't
- connected with anything Motorola or their suppliers have
- indicated. However, when I asked Motorola about their plans for
- the Power modem last week, they were tight-lipped.
-
- I placed my order today for a Premier with Computability. I will
- pass on my comments to the newsgroup when it arrives...

- PS - The Premier doesn't seem to have Caller Id.
